COURSE INFORMATION
Students are advised to take the high school classes that will provide the most opportunities for a successful transition to their post-secondary life plans. COIL’s advisory teachers, as well as our college & career advisor, are committed to helping your student make the best choices for his or her educational plan. During your student’s high school years, it is your responsibility to know the course requirements for the other schools your student may attend and to inform the advisory teacher of these requirements. Parents should also save all completed high school coursework in case of a need for transfer to another high school or future college enrollment.
SELECTING A COURSE OF STUDY
It is best to use several indicators when trying to determine proper placement for your child. Your advisory teacher may also provide advice and resources as requested and necessary. You should consider the following:
– What are your child’s career and academic goals?
– What do your child’s academic assessments reveal?
– What is your child’s reading level?
– What math coursework is your child ready to take?
– What kinds of grades does your child earn?
– What are your child’s capabilities and motivation?
